Global subsea contractor, Subsea 7 has been chosen as one of BP Exploration Operating Company Limited’s federal contractors for their subsea construction, inspection, repair and maintenance (SCIRM) work for the next three years with the opportunity to extend this for up to a further two years. BP estimates that they will spend in the region of US $150-200M per annum for the next three years on subsea support of its North Sea operations.
All of BP’s UK Continental Shelf subsea infrastructure, comprising 3,500 km of pipelines, subsea infrastructure associated with two FPSO’s (floating production storage and offloading units) 85 offshore platforms and 120 subsea wells, as well as their Norwegian and Dutch assets, will be covered under this contract. The principal focus for Subsea 7 is construction within BP’s West of Shetland assets but also includes elements of inspection, repair and maintenance of these assets. Subsea 7 shall also compete for new construction activity in the North Sea as it arises.
Subsea 7 will provide suitable vessels from its fleet of high specification, dynamically positioned ships to BP for their work programmes.
