Subsea 7 Apprentices Scoop Local and National Awards

Subsea 7 Inc (OSE Symbol: SUB), one of the world's leading subsea engineering and construction companies, has announced that two of its Aberdeen based apprentices have collected top awards in separate award ceremonies recently, highlighting the talent and technical ability of some of its younger employees.

Ross Tindall, an Apprentice in the 'Graphic Drawing' function at Subsea 7's Stoneywood worksite in Aberdeen, achieved 2nd place in the National 'Scottish Apprentice of the Year 2008' competition, narrowly missing out on 1st place by only 2 points. This was a notable achievement, especially as Ross was the only Trainee Design Draughtsman to make it to this year's finals - his fellow finalists in the competition were from Electrical and Mechanical Engineering backgrounds.  Ross received his award at a ceremony in Glasgow on 19th September.

Also recognised for his achievements was John Skene, an Apprentice in the Mechanical Division at Subsea 7's Greenwell base in Tullos, Aberdeen, who won the 'Most Improved Student' award at the Annual 'Score' Awards at Banff and Buchan College of Further Education.  He was presented with an engraved watch by the Chairman and CEO of Score Engineering Group on September 5th.

Robin Davies, Subsea 7's Vice President in the North Sea Region, commented on the success of both apprentices: "I am delighted that two Subsea 7 Apprentices have been publicly recognised for their achievements. Their success is testament to the time and effort that goes into training and developing young apprentices within Subsea 7 and within their respective educational institutes, such as Banff and Buchan College. I look forward to offering Ross, John, and all of our Apprentices, the opportunities and resources to help them reach their full potential."

Subsea 7 offers Modern Apprenticeships in a variety of disciplines including mechanical and electrical engineering.  The Apprenticeship scheme takes approximately 4 years to complete and incorporates formal qualifications (up to HND level) combined with work place assessment which is competency based. More information on employment opportunities can be found on the Subsea 7 website: www.subsea7.com.
